Significant area of the State Vocational Education Institute's activities is the international cooperation. Within this field the Institute searches for foreign partners and consequently designs and provides educational projects of bilateral as well as multilateral character. An important priority at implementation of these projects is the output-oriented nature at secondary vocational education update or eventually the demand that the target group shall be formed of selected secondary vocational schools themselves as the pilot consummators of projects.

With Italy:
- Transforma - aimed at the area of motor-car repairs and motor-car electronics
- Informatika, output of which represents the establishment of a telematic center of vocational education and its networking among eleven schools and vocational education establishments in Slovak Republic and partners in Italy
- Designer - architect of educational programs which mediated the latest information in the area of research and methods of occupational analysis with its application at designing of educational programs in Slovak Republic
- Development of commercial education through simulation practices with the aim of establishing first sample pilot simulation firms in individual regions of Slovakia at business academies and schools of commercial specialization
